The project involves the modernization and maintenance of the historic indoor gymnasium of Piraeus, known as the “Petros Kapagerof” or “Papastreteio,” marking the largest sports endeavor in Piraeus after the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
The physical scope of the project includes an indoor gymnasium featuring a court suitable for basketball, volleyball, handball, and futsal matches, a competitive area for rhythmic gymnastics, permanent stands on both sides of the court with a capacity of 1,500 spectators including distinct VIP and press areas, auxiliary facilities catering to athletes, coaches, referees, medical support staff, administrative offices, training rooms, and press rooms, as well as audience service areas, storage spaces, and mechanical rooms. The gymnasium facilities not only accommodate accessibility but also enable use for sports events for people with disabilities.
