The adjustment of the Acharnes stream (Kanapitsa) is undertaken for a length of 12.6 km, from its outfall to the Kifissos river, M.P. 0+000, to M.P. 12+586 in the area of Thrakomakedones and Acharnes, on the southern slopes of Mount Parnitha. This is an important flood protection project, given the frequent occurrences in the area.
The works include the adjustment of the natural bed of the stream in sections, with an open cross-section using wire gabions at a total length of approximately 7.5 km; a closed box culvert is planned for a total length of 2.3 km, of which 1 km concerns existing drains. No interventions are proposed in the protected areas of Mount Parnitha, where the natural cross-section is preserved unchanged.
