The Contemporary Bioclimatic Park is a new communal recreational area spanning 10 acres of public land previously occupied by the Korydallos Detention Center.
Its central feature is a water surface covering approximately 1,500 m², accompanied by an underground pumping station for water management. A network of pathways traverses the park and the water surface, organizing sports facilities, recreational areas, and gathering spaces. Specifically, a 5×5 court, two large playgrounds for different age groups, including facilities friendly to people with disabilities, and a large metal structure with a retractable awning over a gathering area have been created. Wooden pergolas are placed on the water surface and alongside the 5×5 court. The area is covered with grass and a large number of shrubs and trees, covering about 40% of the park’s total surface. Environmentally friendly materials and methods were used in the construction process.
